Workhouse Annual Fireworks Return in 2021!

General Information

Join us on Friday July 2nd for the triumphant return of our annual Workhouse Fireworks Event. The much beloved community event will be reimagined and redesigned to better serve the community as we look forward to post-pandemic life. Our fireworks will illuminate the surrounding landscape in an expertly choreographed display of dazzling pyrotechnic light and thunder.

Launched from our historic, 55-acre campus, the region’s largest pre-Independence Day Fireworks show celebrates the history of this amazing nation and honors the courage and sacrifice that have made America a beacon of hope and freedom around the world.

The event will include a VIP component which will feature special early access to socially distanced pods to enjoy live entertainment, food and drinks. General Access Tail Gate ticket will include premier parking and entertainment.

The event will dazzle all visitors with an incredible display of vibrant colors, bright lights, and ground-shaking explosions and offer entertainment that all have longed for in recent times.

FAQs

Q: Will this be indoors or outdoors? How about the VIP room?

A: All of this year's event will be outdoors, including VIP access areas. Workhouse studios and galleries will be open to everyone prior to the event

Q: If it rains, will the show be cancelled?

A: If it is a very light rain, the show will go on as planned. If it is a heavy rain or rain with lots of wind, the show will be postponed. Weather decisions will be made within a couple of hours from showtime. Ticketholders will be notified via email, and weather notices will be placed on Workhouse Arts Center website and Workhouse Arts Center Facebook page.

Q: What kind of seats will you have?

A: There are a limited number of padded folding chairs available in the central quad on campus. Guests are invited/encouraged to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs from home for best comfort.

Q: How many people will be there?

A: We are following all guidelines from CDC and Virginia state rules for outdoor events. This includes socially-distanced seating between parties and overall reduced capacity. (Guidance is constantly changing, and we will adjust operations, as appropriate.)

Q: Will there be food or drinks for sale?

A: Yep! We will have a variety of food truck and beverage options for a la carte purchase. (Be sure to check out the VIP options, some of which include food and/or beverage service!)

Q: May I bring my own beer or wine?

A: No, as our ABC license does not permit this. Besides, sales at our concession counter support programming like this, and helps ensure that performers (and bartenders!) are compensated for their time and talent- and we thank you very much for that support.

Q: How about parking? Is there a cost?

A: For day-to-day access to Workhouse Arts Center, there is usually no fee to park. For this special event, and to manage and monitor reduced on campus capacity- there is a parking fee. But, this fee directly supports the activities and programming on our campus- much like the one you will be enjoying on your visit!
