OnStage Concert Series

New Orchestra of Washington Juneteenth Concert

Sunday June 19, 2022

2:00pm

Rizer Pavilion on the Workhouse Arts Center Quad

COVID MEASURES: Effective March 7, 2022, the Workhouse Arts Foundation, Inc., which operates the Workhouse Arts Center, strongly recommends that all staff, artists, volunteers, students, and patrons wear a mask while inside one of the Workhouse buildings. All previous Workhouse COVID requirements polices are now suspended and this policy will remain in effect until rescinded or modified based on new CDC, Virginia State, or Fairfax County guidelines.

Join the New Orchestra of Washington (NOW) this Juneteenth as we celebrate the music of Black composers of the past and present: George Walker, William Grant Still, Florence Price, Ulysses Kay, and Jessie Montgomery. We are so excited to bring this music to you and to continue NOW’s mission to create a more equitable classical performing arts stage.

About NOW:

New Orchestra of Washington is a one-of-a-kind ensemble. A small chamber orchestra with flexible instrumentation, NOW elevates every member to their highest potential as an individual virtuoso and as an ensemble player, creating a unique and engaging live performance experience for its audience. NOW believes in the transformative power of music and strives to build a world where transformative musical experiences are accessible to all. Learn more about NOW.

This performance will take place in the Rizer Pavilion on the central quad of the Workhouse Arts Center. Tickets are available for purchase from $30 per person. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks available for a la carte purchase in the venue.
