Get ready for DRIVE-THRU TERROR!!

Friday, October 2 – Saturday, October 31

Fridays and Saturdays will run from 7-11pm each weekend in October, plus three Sundays (October 11, 18, and 25) from 7-10pm.

Our Haunt 2020, “Nightmare Alley,” is Northern Virginia’s first-ever Haunted Drive-Thru! A haunted attraction is, itself, a long-standing tradition offered by the Workhouse, which serves not only as entertainment, but also as an extension of the Workhouse Performing Arts program, allowing local youth to practice their set production and theatrical skills.

“Nightmare Alley” is the first immersive, completely contactless drive-thru Halloween experience in the region. Zombies, swamp creatures, creepy clowns and scary dolls are among 13 different scary scenes taking up residence at the Workhouse campus during the month of October. These new inhabitants will scare and entertain visitors experiencing the attraction from the safety of their cars. And our campus provides a unique and extra eerie setting for this Halloween attraction.

Q: What is the ticket price of Nightmare Alley?

Tickets priced from $60 and higher. (Ticket price may rise with demand.)

Q: What is the schedule of Nightmare Alley?

Nightmare Alley will run on weekends from October 2 – October 31, 2020. Fridays and Saturdays hours are 7:00 – 11:00 pm and Sundays from 7-10pm.

Q: Are any kind of vehicles permitted?

Cars, SUV’s and trucks (with a maximum height of 6.4’ and a width of no more than 8’) are permitted. Buses, RVs, limousines and other over-sized vehicles are not permitted into this event. No bicycles, motorcycles, mopeds or open vehicles are allowed. Vehicle windows and sunroofs must remain closed.

Q: How do I buy tickets?

Tickets are being sold in advance online here. No tickets will be sold at the gate. Tickets are sold via timed-entry. Please bring a printed copy of your ticket – or have it available to show on a mobile device.

Q: Are you offering group ticket sales?

Yes! Please contact [email protected] to purchase discounted tickets for five or more vehicles in the same party.

Q: How does timing work?

All tickets will be sold with a timed-entry. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your selected entry time to check-in and receive further instructions. You may arrive up to 45 minutes early if you plan to visit one of our food trucks, but please do not arrive more than 45 minutes early.

Please note the following:

  • Vehicles are dispatched one at a time, no exceptions
  • Groups of vehicles that wish to be sequential should arrive together
  • Larger groups might not be in same time slot

Q: What happens if there’s bad weather?

If there is a light/mild rain, this event will likely still operate. If there is heavy rain or severe weather, it may not run (or may have partial hours). Please watch our Facebook page or check the Workhouse website for any inclement weather updates.

Q: What is the refund policy?

This fundraising event is following a no-refund policy. If you are unable to attend, you may:

  • Gift your ticket to a friend/neighbor to use
  • Convert the cost of your ticket to a tax-deductible donation

If the Workhouse cancels an evening of the event for any reason, you will be contacted within 48 hours about refund or re-schedule options.

Q: What if I arrive late on the night of my reservation? Can I go through at a later time?

Our team will do our best to accommodate your ticket for a later slot that same night, but cannot guarantee entry if we are sold to capacity or if the timeline is running slower than anticipated. If you are only a few minutes late, the best advice would be to check-in with the gate as soon as you arrive.

Q: Is this safe with cars moving?

Yes! Vehicles will be staged, parking staff will dispatch vehicles one at a time, vehicles will be turned off before scary scenes begin, and scare-actors will not be deployed near moving vehicles.

Q: Are restrooms available and campus buildings open?

All buildings (and restrooms) will be closed during this event.

Q: Will there be food and drinks?

Food trucks will be on hand each night to offer à la carte food and soft drinks for purchase. Due to the ‘driving’ nature of this event, it will be an alcohol-free event. Bringing snacks onto campus is OK, but bringing alcohol violates ABC laws.

Q: Can I walk around campus while I’m waiting?

The only place you are permitted to be outside of your vehicle is in the food truck zone. For the safety and comfort of all guests attending, masks covering nose and mouth must be worn when out of your vehicle.

Q: Is this appropriate for kids?

While you will know your children best, this experience is not recommended for youth under the age of 13.
